Summary of Innovation
The Itoh Denki USA Slide Open Gate (SOG2 USA) module allows for convenient access to a conveyor line with the push of a button. The Slide Open Gate is fully powered by our 24V DC motor driven rollers (MDR), eliminating the use of manuals. Instead, the SOG2 USA lowers slightly and slides under the adjacent conveyor section, creating a space that is easy to walk through. The SOG2 USA has safety in mind when compared to traditional conveyor access options such as manual lift gates or steep stairs, and it uses low voltage 24V DC power to further reduce risk.
All of the Slide Open Gate’s functions are automated, working with a simple push of a button to retract or extend. Articles moving along the conveyor will buffer and hold when the gate is retracted, and automatically resume operation when the gate extends. The SOG2 USA is manufactured at our facility in Pennsylvania, so all USA functionality preferences are met from the start. The SOG2 USA is now compatible with Rockwell Automation controls for increased customization, and is available in multiple sizes to fit a variety of applications. Two gates can be placed back to back to create a space wide enough to drive a forklift through.
